Vauxhall Astra Electric Griffin Available From £35,005 image

Vauxhall launched its new Astra Electric Griffin with a starting price of £35,005 – positioning the entry-level model well below the government’s luxury car tax threshold.

The Griffin replaces the Design trim across the Astra lineup. Both electric and petrol versions come with upgraded equipment and styling changes.

The exterior gets a more upmarket look with a contrasting black roof and tinted rear windows.

Electric Griffin models roll on 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, while petrol variants get 17-inch wheels – both larger than the 16-inch wheels on the previous Design trim.

Standard Equipment and Technology

All Griffin models include heated front seats, heated steering wheel, frameless rear-view mirror, and keyless start. A 180-degree reversing camera comes standard.

The infotainment system features a 10-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A matching 10-inch digital driver display sits behind the steering wheel.

Electric Powertrain Specifications

The Astra Electric Griffin uses a front-mounted motor producing 154bhp from its 54kWh battery pack.

Range reaches up to 260 miles on a full charge. DC fast charging supports speeds up to 100kW.

The £35,005 price point keeps the Griffin below the £40,000 threshold where the government’s Expensive Car Supplement kicks in for EVs. This pricing strategy mirrors Vauxhall’s approach across its electric range.

Electric All In Package

Stellantis-owned Vauxhall offers one of the few complete electric lineups among major manufacturers and continues pushing toward full electrification.

The Griffin comes with Vauxhall’s ‘Electric All In’ package at no extra cost.

This includes eight years of roadside assistance with emergency charging support, plus 10,000 miles worth of free home charging credits.

Buyers also get £500 toward an Ohme home charger installation and a six-month subscription to Connect Plus services.

Connect Plus features connected alarm functionality, integrated ChatGPT, and live navigation updates.

Vauxhall’s ‘Electric Streets of Britain’ program helps EV owners without home charging access find and use public charging stations.

The Astra Electric Griffin is available in both hatchback and estate body styles.
