Vauxhall announced updates to its Astra hatchback and Sports Tourer estate for 2026, featuring a redesigned front end and larger battery pack for improved electric range.

The revised models will debut at the Brussels Motor Show in January. Both variants adopt Vauxhall’s latest Vizor grille design with a permanently illuminated Griffin logo – the same setup first introduced on the Grandland SUV.

New Design Elements

The updated front fascia uses a narrower profile with light bars running vertically and horizontally in Vauxhall’s “compass” design pattern.

Standard equipment now includes the latest Intelli-Lux adaptive LED headlights across the range. Vauxhall’s adding two exterior colors – Contour White and Clover Green – plus three new alloy wheel designs available in 17-inch or 18-inch diameters.

Battery and Range Improvements

The electric Astra gets a significant battery upgrade for 2026. The previous 51kWh pack has been replaced with a 58kWh unit that delivers up to 282 miles of range.

That’s a 22-mile improvement over the current model.

For the first time, the Astra includes vehicle-to-load capability. Owners can now power external devices like laptops or compressors directly from the car’s battery pack.

Interior Updates

Every 2026 Astra – including base trim levels – comes standard with “Intelli-Seats.” These seats earned approval from Germany’s campaign for healthier backs through specially designed seat bases that reduce tailbone pressure during long drives.

Higher trim levels add heating and massage functions to the Intelli-Seats.

Sustainable materials play a bigger role throughout the cabin. Seat covers now use 100% ReNewKnit recycled fabrics, while interior panels incorporate more recycled content than before.

Vauxhall hasn’t announced pricing for the updated Astra yet. However, the all-electric version will likely see a price reduction from its current £35,000 starting point – following the closely related Peugeot E-308, which recently dropped to around £30,000.
