Vauxhall has unveiled a one-off ‘Gravel’ edition of its all-electric Frontera SUV ahead of its public debut at XS Carnight at Wörthersee on Friday, May 30th.

The Frontera Gravel was co-developed with Blackfish Graphics and tuning firm XS Engineering. The special edition keeps the standard Frontera EV’s 44kWh battery and front-mounted 113bhp electric motor while adding several visual enhancements.

Blacked-out 16-inch seven-spoke wheels from Borbet and knobbly BF Goodrich tires improve grip on loose surfaces. The vehicle also features a front bumper-mounted winch and a Thule Canyon XT roof rack cabled to the bonnet – both equipped with rally car-spec light bars.

A ‘Desert Stone’ foil wrap covers most of the exterior, contrasting with the black bonnet, roof, window surrounds, and lower door impact protectors.

The orange detailing on the bumper, mirror caps, and logo serves a practical purpose – helping with off-road visibility.

While Vauxhall isn’t planning to release a production version of this rugged Frontera immediately, the company hasn’t ruled out the possibility for the future.

“The new Vauxhall Frontera is already standout,” said Rebecca Reinermann, vice president of marketing for Vauxhall and Opel. “It is rugged, practical, and perfect for families and everyday adventures.

But with the Vauxhall Frontera Gravel show car, we’ve pushed the limits, imagining a tougher, more daring, trailblazing version. This concept is built to fire up our fanbase and test the demand for a bolder, more rugged Frontera in the future. It’s all about freedom, adventure, excitement and pushing boundaries.

The Frontera Gravel’s low-mounted EV battery and instant torque make it well-suited for light off-road driving.

This isn’t Vauxhall’s only recent electric SUV concept with an adventurous spirit. The company also recently unveiled the Mokka GSE Rally – the first all-electric rally car built to the FIA’s new eRally5 regulations.
