Vauxhall unveiled its Mokka GSE, a performance electric SUV delivering 276bhp through a front-mounted motor paired with a Torsen limited slip differential. The setup mirrors technology found in its Stellantis siblings – the Abarth 600e Scorpionissima and Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica.

The front-mounted motor connects to a 54kWh battery pack. Performance figures include a 0-62mph sprint in 5.9 seconds and a 125mph top speed.

These specifications suggest a WLTP range around 207 miles, matching estimates for the Abarth and Alfa Romeo variants built on the same architecture.

Performance Upgrades

Vauxhall engineers made substantial changes beneath the Mokka GSE’s skin compared to standard versions. The rear axle receives 189% more stiffness than regular Mokka models.

Double hydraulic dampers replace standard components. Up front, 38mm four-piston Alcon brakes handle stopping duties.

The company also revised steering calibration and chassis tuning for what it calls “a more engaging drive.”

Design and Interior

Visual changes draw inspiration from the GSE Rally prototype and reference Vauxhall’s electric rallying programs. GSE-branded elements appear throughout the cabin alongside Alcantara sports seats and matching inserts.

The touchscreen displays GSE-specific graphics. A new steering wheel – borrowed from the larger Grandland SUV – replaces the standard unit.

Steve Catlin, Vauxhall’s managing director, said the model represents years of electric motorsport development.

“Using years of pioneering electric motorsport experience, we have put our best engineering, power, and handling into a car made for daily thrills.”

He added that the Mokka GSE builds on Vauxhall’s sporting heritage while embracing electric technology.

“With its striking design, sharp handling, and outstanding performance, the Mokka GSE is made to be exciting to drive and builds on a proud heritage of sporting Vauxhalls for the modern electric era.”

The rally-spec Mokka GSE shares mechanical components with the road car. It made its competitive debut at the ELE Rally Eindhoven this past May.

Sister brand Opel campaigns a Corsa Electric in Germany’s ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup, demonstrating Stellantis’ commitment to electric motorsport across multiple markets.
