Vauxhall has unveiled the Mokka GSE Rally concept, showcasing its next generation of electric rally car.
The Mokka GSE Rally is the first car developed under the FIA’s new eRally5 regulations, despite sharing a name with Vauxhall’s compact electric SUV.
This competition-spec vehicle features a 276bhp/254lb ft motor on the front axle with a multi-plate limited-slip differential for improved traction. Power transfers through a racing gearbox with reinforced drive shafts and wheel hubs. The suspension system comes from Bilstein, with reinforced McPherson struts at the front and a rigid rear axle with modified springs and dampers.
The rally car uses the same 54kWh battery as the standard Mokka Electric, but with software and battery management systems recalibrated for competition based on Opel’s experience with its Corsa Electric Rally.
While still recognizable as a Mokka, the rally version sports a roof-mounted air scoop, “OMG! GSE” decals, yellow brake callipers behind gloss black front wheels, and bright yellow rims at the rear.
Inside, the cabin has been stripped and fitted with a full roll cage and Sparco racing seats with five-point harnesses.
The Mokka GSE Rally will debut at the ELE Rally Eindhoven on May 23-24.
Though currently a prototype, Vauxhall indicates it could be offered as a customer competition car as early as the 2026 season.
Vauxhall’s sister brand Opel already supplies the Corsa Electric “powered by GSe” for the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup – the world’s first all-electric one-make rally competition, now in its fifth season.
“For more than four years, Opel and the ADAC have been demonstrating that electric rallying is a winning success and excites fans. With our new Mokka GSE Rally, we are offering a glimpse of a fully electric next-generation rally car. Thanks to the latest motorsport technology, the prototype offers potent performance and power in equal measure,” said Florian Huettl, Opel & Vauxhall CEO.
