Volkswagen Plans ID.2X Electric Crossover Debut at Munich Show
Volkswagen will unveil its ID.2X electric crossover at IAA Mobility in Munich this September, positioning it as the electric successor to its T-Cross model.
The ID.2X targets a £25,000 price point when it launches in 2026, putting it in direct competition with the upcoming Renault 4.
Built as a higher-riding variant of the ID.2 supermini coming in 2025, the ID.2X shares its core platform with several upcoming electric vehicles. Industry sources suggest VW may brand the ID.2 as the ID.Polo at launch.
Both models will use a modified version of VW Group’s MEB electric platform — the same architecture underpinning the Cupra Raval and Skoda Epiq. Production for all four vehicles will be based in Spain.
The crossover’s design incorporates elements from VW’s electric lineup:
- Roof spoiler and light bar from ID.2all concept
- Three horizontal C-pillar slats matching ID.Buzz
- Styling cues from the recently revealed ID.Every1 city car
VW confirms two battery options for the ID.2X:
- 38kWh entry-level battery
- 58kWh battery delivering up to 280 miles range
The larger battery supports 125kW fast-charging, enabling 10-80% charging in under 30 minutes. The ID.2 will share these specifications.
The ID.2 will start at approximately £20,000, while the smaller ID.Every1 — set to replace the discontinued e-Up! — will launch in 2027 at around £17,000.
