Volkswagen has launched the e-Transporter Sportline, bringing performance styling to its electric van lineup. The range-topping edition combines the brand’s signature GTI design cues with practical commercial vehicle functionality.
The Sportline gets VW’s distinctive “dogbone-style” bumper intakes borrowed from the GTI hot hatch. Gloss black trim surrounds the grille with a red stripe running across its length.
19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels come standard, while Eibach springs lower the ride height by 29mm compared to standard models. The rear features an aggressive bumper design, red and grey ‘e-Transporter’ lettering, and a split roof spoiler that enhances the van’s athletic appearance.
Inside, the sporty theme continues with vegan leather seats featuring red stitching. Sportline logos appear throughout the cabin, reinforcing the performance-oriented design.
Standard Equipment and Configurations
Metal scuff plates come standard alongside a rear-view camera and illuminated vanity mirrors for both driver and passenger. The heated leather steering wheel adds comfort during winter months.
Five-seater Kombi models get full carpet flooring as standard equipment.
Both Kombi and panel van variants are available in short-wheelbase and long-wheelbase configurations. This gives buyers flexibility depending on their cargo and passenger requirements.
The powertrain remains unchanged from other e-Transporter models. A front-mounted electric motor produces 282bhp, making it one of the more powerful options in the electric van segment.
VW recently updated this seventh-generation Transporter with a 70kWh battery pack that delivers 236 miles of range on a single charge.
Pricing and Competition
The e-Transporter Sportline starts at £62,752 for the short-wheelbase panel van configuration. The flagship SWB 75 Special Edition Kombi carries a £66,928 price tag.
Orderbooks open in April, with deliveries beginning the following month.
The Sportline faces competition from other performance-oriented electric vans. The Peugeot E-Expert Sport draws inspiration from the brand’s FIA World Endurance Championship involvement, starting at £51,845 for the three-seat panel van and £54,545 for the five-seat crew van.
Citroen offers the VTR e-Dispatch at £46,845 for the panel van version and £49,545 for the crew van – both prices include the UK Government’s Plug-in Vehicle Grant.
The e-Transporter’s higher pricing reflects VW’s positioning as a premium option in the electric commercial vehicle market, emphasizing build quality and performance over pure value.
