VW ID Every1 Sketches Preview New Electric Up

VW ID Every1 Sketches Preview New Electric Up image

Volkswagen revealed design sketches for its upcoming ID.Every1 electric vehicle — an entry-level model set to replace the eUp when it launches in 2027.

The ID.Every1’s expected £17,000 starting price positions it as VW’s most affordable EV offering in the UK market.

Chief designer Andreas Mindt’s sketches show the concept car blending classic VW design elements. The C-pillar styling echoes the Scirocco, while its one-piece glass tailgate and oblong tail lights draw from both the Up and ID.3 models.

The front features a black grille flanked by oblong LED headlights and vertical running lights in the lower section, creating a modern interpretation of the Mk4 Golf’s design language.

“[This will be] an affordable, high-quality, and profitable electric Volkswagen from Europe for Europe – that’s the Champions League of automotive engineering,” VW brand chief Thomas Schafer told workers at the Wolfsburg plant.

The ID.Every1 represents part of VW’s strategy to regain European market share through accessible electric vehicles. It will be joined by the ID.2all concept — expected to become the ID.Polo — in 2026.

Both models fall under the VW Group Brand Core Group, which includes Volkswagen, Skoda, and Cupra/Seat brands.

These EVs emerge from VW’s ‘Zukunft Volkswagen’ restructuring plan, aimed at strengthening the company’s financial position. The plan has sparked debate due to its impact on operations, including:

  • Moving Golf production to Mexico
  • Implementing workforce reductions
  • Closing the Dresden factory by 2025’s end
