XPENG confirmed its updated G6 electric SUV will reach UK dealerships in the first quarter of 2026, with pricing starting at £39,990 on the road. The Chinese automaker’s refreshed model brings major upgrades to battery technology, performance capabilities and interior refinement as the brand expands its European presence following this year’s UK launch.
The biggest news for British buyers is the introduction of the AWD Performance Black Edition – the first dual-motor variant in the G6 lineup.
This range-topper delivers 358kW and 660Nm of torque, enabling a 0-62mph sprint in just 4.1 seconds. That places it among the quickest electric SUVs in its price segment. The all-wheel-drive system pairs with revised chassis tuning to improve traction and stability on UK roads.
The Black Edition adopts a stealth appearance with 20-inch black alloy wheels, smoked exterior trim and black brake calipers. Inside, XPENG adds suede-textured grey upholstery to emphasize the performance focus.
Next-generation battery technology
The updated G6 uses XPENG’s latest 80.8kWh LFP battery pack, built with lithium iron phosphate chemistry that eliminates cobalt, nickel and manganese for better sustainability. Combined with the brand’s 800V silicon carbide platform, the G6 now supports 451kW peak charging power.
That enables a 10-80% recharge in just 12 minutes – potentially the fastest charging time available in the UK mid-size SUV segment.
XPENG says the new battery delivers a 30% increase in lifespan compared to the previous model. A high-efficiency heat pump comes standard across all variants to maintain performance during British winters.
Engineering refinements
The company claims over 20,000 incremental improvements across suspension, steering, powertrain response and cabin noise reduction. These changes target European road conditions specifically, according to XPENG engineers.
Braking smoothness has been enhanced for both city driving and motorway use.
Visual updates include a new 1.94-meter Starlight LED light bar with integrated indicators, body-colored wheel arches and a redesigned rear diffuser. The G6 maintains its 0.248 Cd drag coefficient while adding new color options like Stellar Purple.
Interior and technology upgrades
Inside, material improvements include new wood-grain trim, suede-effect roof lining and updated ambient lighting. The wireless charging pads now deliver 50W power each, while Long Range and AWD models get a redesigned digital rear-view mirror.
Front seats add heating, cooling and massage functions. The rear seats still recline in 12 steps, with boot space remaining at 571 liters expanding to 1,374 liters with seats folded.
XPENG’s updated XOS system promises faster responses and a more intelligent voice assistant that offers context-based suggestions across four cabin zones.
Safety and driver assistance
The G6 debuts XPENG’s enhanced battery safety structure with what the company calls a “4-3-4 architecture.” The armor can reportedly withstand 1,000°C heat and 80-ton side pressure – representing a 30% improvement in overall battery durability.
The XPILOT ASSIST suite includes adaptive cruise control, lane-centering, advanced auto-parking and remote parking capabilities. Safety equipment covers a 360-degree camera system and seven airbags with collision-avoidance technology.
UK pricing structure
The G6 range will launch with three variants:
- RWD Standard Range: £39,990 OTR
- RWD Long Range: £44,990 OTR
- AWD Performance Black Edition: £49,990 OTR
UK deliveries are scheduled to begin in Q1 2026.
