Xpeng opens first UK dealerships as G6 SUV sales begin
Xpeng has launched its first two UK dealerships in Nottingham and Southampton as sales of its G6 SUV commence nationwide. International Motors Limited will operate both locations, with Xpeng planning to expand to 25 dealerships across the UK by year’s end.
The G6 SUV marks the Chinese manufacturer’s UK market entry, directly challenging the Tesla Model Y.
Built on Xpeng’s proprietary 800V Smart Electric Platform Architecture (SEPA) 2.0, the G6 offers a range of up to 354 miles on a single charge.
The RWD version starts at £39,990, while the AWD long range model costs just under £46,000. This strategic pricing positions the base model just below the UK Government’s £40,000 threshold for the Expensive Car Supplement.
Using ultra-fast 280kW charging, the G6 can recharge from 10% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes.
The G6 comes loaded with technology, reflecting Xpeng’s software-first approach. Standard features include an AI-driven operating system and the company’s XNGP driver assistance system, which utilizes LiDar and high-resolution cameras for semi-autonomous driving capabilities.
The interior design balances minimalism with advanced technology.
William Brown, managing director at International Motors, emphasized the significance of the launch: “The opening of our first UK retailers and the arrival of the Xpeng G6 is a crucial moment for our business and for British car buyers.”
“The G6 is an advanced, premium all-electric SUV, perfectly sized for UK roads. It has been designed and developed to redefine consumer expectations, with everyday real-world usability that has been honed to exceed the requirements of owners and drivers, without compromise,” Brown added.
Brown also highlighted Xpeng’s focused approach to the market. “An important central pillar of the Xpeng brand is to create products that customers can feel proud to buy and own. While others in the industry court controversy, Xpeng has remained laser-focused on what truly matters: perfecting smart, high-performance electric vehicles that push the boundaries of technology without the distractions of controversy.”
