Xpeng has confirmed it will launch its flagship X9 people carrier in the UK later this year.

The seven-seater will arrive this summer as part of the Chinese brand’s expansion plan for the UK. It’ll sit above the soon-to-be-updated G6 SUV in Xpeng’s lineup.

After the X9 and updated G6, Xpeng said it planned to introduce more new models to the UK before the end of 2026.

The company didn’t confirm which models would arrive next. But they could include the P7+, which made its debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed last year, and the G9 SUV that rivals the Kia EV9.

Premium Family Transport

Xpeng describes the X9 as its flagship luxury model for families and businesses seeking intelligent, all-electric capability in a versatile model.

The large MPV features angular design inspired by spaceships. It’ll likely compete with the recently announced Hyundai Staria EV and Volkswagen ID Buzz in the premium seven-seat space.

An unusual 2+2+3 seating arrangement features electrically adjustable captain’s chairs in the middle row and a traditional bench seat in the rear.

The X9 offers up to 2,554 litres of boot space.

The X9 comes with real wood trim, a built-in fridge in the centre console, and a drop-down screen for rear passengers. It also features a panoramic roof, massage seats and a 23-speaker sound system.

Fast Charging and Performance

The X9 uses Xpeng’s SEPA2.0 800V architecture – this allows DC charging at up to 330kW and can add 205 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

Xpeng hasn’t disclosed the X9’s battery capacity but says it’ll cover up to 436 miles on the CLTC test cycle. Expect a WLTP range closer to 350 miles since CLTC testing is more optimistic than European standards.

An all-wheel-drive setup delivers up to 496bhp for 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds. Four-wheel-steering helps with manoeuvrability despite the X9’s size.

Updated G6 Coming First

Before the X9’s arrival, Xpeng will launch its updated G6, bringing more power and faster charging to its Tesla Model Y rival.

Xpeng says it’s made 20,000 incremental upgrades to the G6. These improve the chassis, suspension and steering as well as powertrain and battery operation, refinement and interior quality.

DC charging now tops out at 451kW. The range gets a new Dual-Motor AWD Performance Black Edition with 480bhp and a 0-62mph time of 4.1 seconds.

That version will cost £49,990 while the rest of the G6 range remains priced as before. Prices start from £39,990 for the Rear-Wheel Drive Standard Range and £44,990 for the Long-Range.
