Robert Llewellyn is reviving the hit engineering gameshow Scrapheap Challenge for the electric age with a new project called Zapheap.
The Fully Charged owner and presenter will use his global platform to launch a pilot episode of the show, which he will once again host.
Like the original Channel 4 show, Zapheap will pit two teams of amateur engineers against each other in a race to turn scrap into something spectacular. Expert team leaders Richard Morgan of Electric Classic Cars and Anne Kloppenborg of New Electric will guide their teams in transforming junkyard scraps into electric-powered vehicles and items.
Teams must complete their projects within 10 hours, focusing on safety and innovation.
The competing creations will showcase what’s possible when EV and sustainable engineering operate without constraints.
Zapheap is scheduled to begin filming in July 2025 as a Kickstarter-backed project. Since launching in March, it has attracted 293 backers and raised $26,379 with 21 days of fundraising remaining.
According to the Kickstarter page, the funding will cover costs for the pilot episode, a live show, crew, production, safety, and post-production. Further information — along with a video featuring Llewellyn — is available at this link.
Earlier in 2025, The Fully Charged Show co-founder Dan Caesar appeared on the Everything EV podcast. During his appearance, Caesar addressed common myths about EV ownership and discussed the UK’s upcoming ZEV mandate and the country’s electrified automotive future.
