Zapmap has launched a new charging card for UK electric car drivers, aiming to simplify public charging payments across multiple networks.

The physical card lets drivers pay for charging sessions with a single tap instead of juggling multiple apps and subscriptions. It works alongside Zapmap’s existing mobile payment system.

The service currently covers more than 40,000 public charge points across 30 different networks throughout the UK.

“We’re here to help drivers charge with confidence – and the new charging card makes that even easier. Whether you’re using your phone or tapping your card, paying with Zapmap fits around your journey.”

That’s according to Melanie Shufflebotham, COO and Co-founder of Zapmap.

The card is available first to Zapmap Premium annual subscribers for a small fee. All Zapmap users will get access later this summer.

Setting up is straightforward – drivers link their credit or debit card details to their Zapmap app account and order the physical card.

Expanding Payment Network

The card launch comes after Zapmap more than doubled its payment network coverage over the past year.

The expansion addresses one of the biggest frustrations for EV drivers – having to manage separate accounts and payment methods for different charging networks. Instead of downloading multiple apps or setting up various subscriptions, drivers can now use one card across most major UK charging networks.

The physical card option also helps drivers who prefer not to rely solely on smartphone payments or who want a backup option when their phone battery runs low.
