Hounslow Council has selected charge point operator Zest to build a rapid charging network across the borough. The partnership forms part of the council’s plan to install more than 2,000 new charge points for residents and visitors.

Zest will expand Hounslow’s existing rapid charging infrastructure with over 100 rapid charging spaces at key locations throughout the area. The charge point operators are funding the entire fast and rapid charge point rollout.

Advanced Technology Features

Each Zest charge point will include the latest technology and high-speed charging capability. The units offer contactless and app-based payment options with 24/7 customer support for users.

Councillor Katherine Dunne, cabinet member for climate, environment and transport, emphasized the network’s role in the borough’s environmental goals.

“Expanding our EV network is a key part of building a cleaner, greener borough. By working with industry partners, we’re ensuring residents have convenient, reliable and affordable options for charging close to home and across Hounslow.”

Robin Heap, chief executive officer at Zest, highlighted the benefits for local communities.

“These high-quality amenities enable residents, visitors and local businesses to charge their vehicles quickly and conveniently, making it easier to switch to EV and revitalising local communities.”

He added that Hounslow Council is backing its strategy with action, and Zest is proud to work with them.

Community Input Process

Residents will have the opportunity to share their views on proposed locations during an upcoming consultation. This community input process will follow technical and site surveys to help shape the final network configuration.

The consultation represents part of the council’s effort to ensure the charging infrastructure meets local needs and preferences across Hounslow.
