Alfa Romeo announced two new electric vehicles at Stellantis’s 2026 Investor Day – a Giulietta hatchback EV and an all-new electric SUV. Both models will target different segments of the growing electric market.
The Italian brand confirmed it’s developing the Giulietta EV as a C-segment electric hatchback. This puts it in direct competition with the upcoming electric Volkswagen Golf.
New Platform Technology
Both vehicles will use Stellantis’s new STLA One architecture. This platform handles both fully-electric and internal combustion powertrains.
The flexible design supports everything from the Vauxhall Corsa supermini to the seven-seat Peugeot E-5008 SUV.
STLA One includes several advanced features:
- Steer-by-wire technology
- Cell-to-body battery integration for improved rigidity
- Better packaging compared to current Stellantis EVs
The platform also features the STLA Brain – a centralized software system managing both powertrain and infotainment. Volvo adopted a similar approach with its EX60 and SPA3 platform for scalability and cost reduction.
Timeline and Competition
Alfa Romeo hasn’t announced specific arrival dates for either vehicle. The Giulietta EV will likely debut in the late 2020s to compete with the electric Golf.
It’s unclear whether Alfa Romeo will actually use the Giulietta name, despite Stellantis owning the trademark.
The new C-segment SUV represents another significant addition to Alfa’s electric lineup. This mid-sized premium model will compete with the Skoda Elroq and Toyota C-HR+ when it launches.
The SUV’s timing could be more immediate. Since the combustion-powered Tonale SUV just received a mid-life refresh, this electric replacement might arrive within a year.
Both announcements signal Alfa Romeo’s commitment to electrification as parent company Stellantis pushes toward its 2030 electric vehicle targets across European markets.
