BYD has launched its all-electric Dolphin Cargo van in the UK market, with pricing starting at £29,358 excluding VAT.
The commercial vehicle targets competitors like the Volvo EX30 Cargo and Ford Explorer van. At 4.2 metres long, the Dolphin Cargo offers a maximum payload of 1,093 litres.
Load dimensions include a maximum length of 1,250mm and width of 1,160mm.
The van also features a 47-litre underfloor storage compartment for additional cargo flexibility.
Standard equipment includes several comfort and efficiency features. A heat pump system maximizes range during winter months, while heated front seats and a heated steering wheel improve driver comfort.
Technology integration centers around a 12.8-inch touchscreen mounted in the dashboard. The system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, plus a 360-degree parking camera system.
This marks BYD’s second electric van launch in the UK following the short-lived ETP3 model. The company offers a broader commercial vehicle range across mainland Europe – including the mid-sized ETM 6, the Mercedes e-Actros-competing ETH 8 heavy goods vehicle, and the EYT 2.0 yard tractor.
UK customers will pay £36,305 including VAT through selected dealers nationwide.
The Dolphin Cargo uses the same platform as BYD’s mid-sized Dolphin hatchback. BYD’s current UK passenger car lineup includes the Dolphin, Dolphin Surf, Atto 2, Atto 3 Evo, the Tesla Model 3-competing Seal, and the flagship Sealion 7.
Expansion Plans
BYD plans several additions to its UK roster over the coming months.
The company will introduce its “built in Europe, for Europe” Dolphin G plug-in hybrid model. A seven-seater Ti7 – designed to compete with the Land Rover Defender – will also join the lineup.
BYD’s premium Denza brand will launch in the UK through the Z9 GT model.
The Z9 GT will support BYD’s 1,500kW ‘Flash’ charging network when it rolls out across the UK later this year.
