BYD confirmed its seven-seat Ti7 SUV will launch in the UK later this year, positioning the rugged vehicle as a direct competitor to the Land Rover Defender.
The Chinese automaker’s latest offering sits between the Defender 110 and 130 models in terms of size. The Ti7 marks several firsts for BYD’s UK operations – it’s the first model to feature the company’s new DM-p plug-in hybrid powertrain and the first seven-seater in their UK lineup.
BYD hasn’t released complete technical specifications for the UK-spec Ti7 yet. The DM-p system combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with dual electric motors – one powering the front axle, another handling the rear.
The setup draws power from a 35.6kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack.
Performance and Range Details
BYD claims the DM-p powertrain delivers 79 miles of electric-only range with a 0-62mph acceleration time of 4.8 seconds.
In its home market of China, the Ti7 operates under BYD’s premium Fangchengbao brand, where it’s known as the Fangchengbao Titanium 7. This youth-focused division targets buyers seeking upmarket features and performance.
The Ti7 measures 5.1 by 1.9 metres, giving it a distinctly boxy profile that emphasizes utility over curves. Inside, the cabin follows BYD’s tech-heavy approach with multiple screens and digital interfaces throughout.
BYD will position the Ti7 as its UK flagship model.
Pricing and final performance figures remain under wraps for now. The Ti7 will serve as a larger sibling to the upmarket Denza B5, which isn’t expected to reach UK showrooms until late 2026.
Global Powertrain Options
Plug-in hybrid versions sold in China, the Middle East, South Africa, and other Asian markets produce up to 476bhp.
BYD also offers a pure-electric Ti7 variant with 680bhp, but that model won’t make the journey to UK dealers. If it did arrive here, it would work with BYD’s Flash charging network – a system capable of delivering up to 1,500kW charging speeds.
The company plans to install 300 Flash chargers across the UK as part of its Europe-wide infrastructure expansion. This rollout coincides with the launch of BYD’s Denza brand in European markets.
The Ti7’s arrival represents BYD’s continued push into premium SUV territory, targeting buyers who want seven seats without compromising on performance or technology.
