Chery confirmed it’s launching a commercial vehicle division in Europe, with the Chinese automotive giant unveiling three electric vans that’ll spearhead its zero-emission Future Super Commercial Vehicle strategy.

The company behind Chery, Lepas, Jaecoo and Omoda brands revealed the lineup at the Commercial Vehicle Show – headlined by the Delivan, set to compete directly with the Ford Transit Custom and Volkswagen Transporter.

Chery designed the Delivan for urban logistics operations.

The company says it’s “designed for high-frequency, short-distance urban logistics, supporting last-mile delivery, e-commerce fulfilment and professional fleet use.” Think Ford Transit City but with Chery’s take on modular design and smart fleet management systems.

The Delivan offers different body styles through a modular approach – letting fleet operators customize configurations based on their specific needs. Integrated intelligent management systems will handle fleet monitoring and operations data.

UK Launch Planned for 2027

Chery expects the Delivan to arrive sometime in 2027, with the UK getting first access before other European markets.

The company cited Britain’s position as “one of Europe’s most advanced and influential commercial vehicle markets” for the priority launch timing.

Two smaller concepts joined the Delivan at the show – though technical specifications weren’t available for any of the vehicles.

The ‘micro-cargo’ concept targets compact, multi-drop urban operations and local service fleets in dense city environments. The autonomous ‘robot-cargo’ vehicle is intended for controlled spaces like warehouses, campuses, and designated urban delivery zones.

Gong Yueqiong, general manager of Chery Commercial Vehicle, confirmed all vehicles would run on electric powertrains.

“Our Future Super Commercial Vehicle strategy is designed to redefine the role of commercial vehicles in a zero-carbon, intelligent era. It is not simply about products, but about establishing a new paradigm – one that integrates technology, data and ecosystem capability to create greater value for customers.”

Jolly Yang, vice president of Chery Commercial Vehicle and CEO of Delivan, emphasized the European focus.

“With Delivan, we are introducing a new generation of commercial vehicles designed specifically for European operations.”

The move represents Chery’s expansion beyond passenger vehicles into the growing European commercial EV market – where established players like Ford, Volkswagen, and Mercedes-Benz currently dominate the electric van segment.
