Genesis has confirmed UK pricing for its first high-performance model – the GV60 Magma.

Based on the brand’s first ground-up electric vehicle, the GV60 Magma delivers a massive 641bhp and 583lb ft from its twin-motor setup.

The performance crossover accelerates from 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds and will go on sale in the UK this July. Pricing starts at £75,915.

Genesis describes the GV60 Magma as a “new chapter” for the Korean brand. It’s their first performance-focused model, designed to connect with the company’s motorsport entry through the Genesis Magma Racing team.

Platform and Competition

The GV60 Magma shares underpinnings with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Kia EV6 GT but positions itself as a more premium option.

It’ll compete directly with the Polestar 4 Performance, BMW iX M60 and Porsche Macan Electric.

The twin-motor system draws power from an 84kWh battery pack. Genesis hasn’t released official range figures yet, but expect a drop from the regular all-wheel-drive model’s 311-mile capability – especially if you’re using that 164mph top speed regularly.

Performance Features

Like other high-performance cars on the E-GMP platform, the GV60 Magma includes a synthesized soundtrack paired with an “eight-speed” virtual gearshift system.

This setup mimics driving a high-performance petrol car with sequential transmission. It includes rev matching and a 9,000rpm virtual limiter.

The GV60 Magma also gets a dedicated drift mode alongside Sprint and GT driving settings.

Design Changes

Genesis lowered the GV60 Magma by 20mm and widened the track by 50mm compared to standard models.

Beyond the launch car’s Magma Orange paint, the performance version stands out with a dramatic front bumper featuring additional aerodynamic elements. A prominent rear spoiler and 21-inch forged alloy wheels complete the exterior changes.

Inside, electrically adjustable sports seats maintain a less aggressive profile than the Hyundai or Kia equivalents – keeping Genesis’s comfort focus intact.

The black faux-suede upholstery comes with Ash White or Magma Orange contrast stitching. The signature orange finish appears on the steering wheel’s “Magma” button and illuminates the rotating drive selector.

Genesis will offer the Magma in one trim level, likely based on the current Performance specification. Options include nine exterior paint colors and two interior stitching choices.
