Kia has expanded its PV5 electric van lineup with a seven-seat passenger version and introduced a new Elite trim level across the range.

The PV5 Passenger 7-Seat targets families and commercial operators who need more space than the existing five-seat model. Orders open Monday, June 8, with deliveries starting in October.

Pricing and Configuration

The seven-seat model starts at £36,995 – significantly undercutting the VW ID.Buzz’s £60,500 starting price.

Kia uses a unique 2-2-3 seating layout with the middle row positioned to one side. This design makes it easier to access the rear bench compared to traditional straight-across configurations.

The rear seats fold down to create 785 liters of storage space. With all seven seats up, there’s still 318 liters of boot room available.

Battery and Range Details

All seven-seat versions come with Kia’s Long Range setup – a 71.2kWh battery pack providing up to 242 miles of range.

The 150kW charging capability takes the battery from 10-80% in under 30 minutes at compatible fast chargers.

Unlike five-seat PV5 models that qualify for the £1,500 Electric Car Grant, Kia’s still waiting for government approval on the seven-seat version.

Three Trim Levels Available

The PV5 7-Seat comes in Essential, Plus, and the new Elite grades. Essential starts at £36,995, while Plus costs £40,275.

Standard equipment across all 2027 model year PV5 variants now includes walk-away locking and a compact antenna that reduces overall height to 1.9m – crucial for accessing car parks with height restrictions.

Every seven-seat model gets a heat pump and 16-inch alloy wheels as standard equipment.

Elite Grade Features

The new Elite trim adds powered sliding doors, ventilated front seats, and a surround view camera system.

It also includes side parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, two-tone interior materials, and premium paint options.

Elite pricing starts at £39,695 for five-seat models and £41,975 for the seven-seat version.

Cargo Van Updates

Kia’s also refreshed the PV5 Cargo lineup with a new L1H1 variant that’s 200mm shorter than the existing L2H1.

The compact cargo model offers up to 4m³ of space – about 0.4m³ less than its longer sibling.

Starting at £27,355 plus VAT, the L1H1 becomes the new entry point into PV5 ownership. That’s £310 less than the previous starting price.

The L2H1’s price has increased by almost £1,000 to £28,455 plus VAT for 2027.

Both cargo variants qualify for the government’s £5,000 Zero-Emission Van Grant, bringing actual prices down considerably for eligible buyers.

Commercial operators running airport transfers or ride-hailing services get up to a meter of rear legroom in the passenger version – addressing a key complaint about cramped electric people carriers.

The timing puts Kia ahead of several competitors who’ve delayed their seven-seat electric van launches into 2027 and beyond.
