Mitch Evans will leave Jaguar TCS Racing at the end of this season, bringing down the curtain on one of Formula E’s longest driver-team partnerships. The New Zealander has been with the British team for the entire decade since they joined the all-electric championship in 2016.
The 31-year-old driver has become one of Formula E’s most successful competitors during his time with Jaguar. He’s collected 15 wins, 36 podiums and 1,064 championship points – all of those victories coming in the team’s signature green livery.
Evans broke through early in the partnership. He secured Jaguar’s first podium in Hong Kong during the 2017/18 season and claimed a pole position in Zurich that same year.
His first win came the following season in Rome. That breakthrough opened the door to what became a highly productive scoring run for both driver and team.
The Auckland native mounted his strongest title challenge in 2021/22, collecting 180 points across the season – a 75-point improvement on his previous best. Three wins and seven podiums put him in contention heading into the season finale.
A mechanical failure in London left him chasing leader Stoffel Vandoorne into the Seoul double-header weekend. Evans won the opening race but couldn’t close the gap, finishing second in the championship.
He’s currently third in this season’s standings with 65 points. Evans has won once and reached the podium twice in the last four races, sitting 18 points behind championship leader Pascal Wehrlein with 11 rounds remaining.
Team Reflects on Partnership
Team Principal Ian James acknowledged the significance of Evans’ departure from the Coventry-based operation.
“The partnership between Jaguar TCS Racing and Mitch has been synonymous with the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship,” James said. “Through his huge successes achieved with the team over the course of the past decade, Mitch has cemented his place in Jaguar’s motorsport history.”
James emphasized that both sides reached the decision together. The team remains focused on supporting Evans’ championship bid while pursuing their own teams’ and manufacturers’ titles.
“Throughout my time in Formula E Mitch has been a formidable competitor and superbly gifted racing driver,” James added. “His record-breaking number of wins have all been achieved with Jaguar, so on behalf of the whole Jaguar TCS Racing team, I’d like to thank Mitch and wish him all the best for the future.”
Evans hasn’t announced his plans for the 2026/27 season. He credited Jaguar with shaping his single-seater career over the past decade.
“To have been with Jaguar TCS Racing right from the beginning and achieved so much success throughout the last ten years in Formula E has been incredible,” Evans said. “It has been a memorable experience and there have been so many highlights throughout our journey together, but the time is right to embark on a new challenge for next season.”
The driver emphasized his commitment to finishing strong with Jaguar. He’s working alongside teammate António Félix da Costa as they pursue championship honors across all three categories.
Evans transformed from a promising newcomer into one of Formula E’s most decorated drivers during his Jaguar tenure. His 15 victories represent a significant portion of the team’s overall success in the championship.
The departure marks the end of an era for Jaguar’s Formula E program as they prepare to enter their 11th season in the series next year.
