Nico Mueller claimed his first Formula E victory at Porsche’s home race in Berlin, becoming the all-electric championship’s 25th different winner after 69 attempts.

The Swiss driver dominated Sunday’s race in spectacular fashion. He managed his energy perfectly before pulling away from the field to win by 4.7 seconds.

Mueller’s breakthrough came at the perfect moment – driving Porsche’s 99X Electric in a special ‘Pink Pig’ livery celebrating the manufacturer’s 75th anniversary of motorsport.

The timing couldn’t have been better for both driver and team.

“I’m feeling relieved and super grateful,” Mueller said afterwards. “I still haven’t really realised what we did. It’s a special weekend. You come here knowing that a lot of important people are here and you want to make them proud, you want to make your fans proud, you want to make sure that this livery adds to its history a little bit.”

Mueller’s victory marked a career milestone that’s been years in the making. The 32-year-old has competed in Formula E since the series’ early seasons, collecting podium finishes but never quite managing that elusive first win.

“To be able to do it in the way we did today just makes me very proud and grateful for the opportunity,” he added.

The celebration became even more meaningful when Mueller brought his young son onto the podium. His wife and newborn daughter had made a rare trip to watch him race – and they picked the right weekend.

Mueller admitted his son had been asking when he’d get his turn on the podium after watching other drivers bring their children up there.

“I think Oliver inspired my son a little bit. He was like, ‘he always takes his daughter onto the podium, when will you take me?’ and I’m like, ‘look, a podium? No. A win? Okay.'”

The reference was to third-place finisher Oliver Rowland, who regularly brings his daughter to celebrate podium results.

Mueller’s racing suit from the victory will find a permanent home in his personal gym. He plans to use it as motivation during tough training sessions.

The Berlin crowd gave Mueller a warm reception throughout the weekend. Rivals and team members were quick to congratulate the popular driver on his breakthrough result.

For Porsche, the victory provided the perfect celebration of their motorsport heritage. The German manufacturer has been competing in Formula E since 2019 and this win in front of their home crowd delivered exactly the kind of moment they’d hoped for.

Mueller suggested Porsche has more special liveries planned for upcoming races, though he’s keeping the details under wraps for now.

The win moves Mueller up the championship standings and gives him crucial momentum heading into the season’s final races. More importantly, it removes the pressure of chasing that first victory.

Berlin’s race proved once again why Formula E continues attracting top-level drivers and manufacturers. The combination of cutting-edge technology, close racing, and unpredictable results creates moments like Mueller’s emotional first win.
