Peugeot has opened order books for its all-electric e-208 GTi with pricing starting at £34,995.
The hot hatch qualifies for the UK Government’s £1,500 electric car grant, bringing the effective price to £33,845. That undercuts its main rival – the Alpine A290 GTS+ costs £34,245 including the £3,750 ECG.
Peugeot debuted the E-208 GTi at the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans, marking the company’s centenary at the endurance race.
Performance and Engineering
Peugeot Sport co-developed the electric GTi using the same platform as the Abarth 600e and Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce.
The E-208 GTi serves as the long-awaited successor to the iconic 205 GTi. It delivers 276bhp and 221lb ft of torque from a single front-mounted motor – twice the output of its predecessor.
Peugeot claims the electric hot hatch accelerates from 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds – 0.2 seconds quicker than the larger Abarth and ahead of rivals like the Alpine A290 and Mini John Cooper Works.
The GTi features a mechanical Torsen limited-slip differential and rear anti-roll bar. Engineers fitted bespoke suspension, steering and braking systems, including 355mm discs with four-piston calipers.
Peugeot lowered the E-208 GTi by 30mm compared to the standard car. The track widens by 56mm at the front and 27mm at the rear for improved handling.
Battery and Range
The electric GTi uses the same 54kWh battery as the regular E-208.
Peugeot quotes 217 miles of range for this most powerful version. Real-world driving will likely deliver 160-170 miles between charges.
Design and Styling
Peugeot offers the E-208 GTi in seven colors, including red, white, and blue as a nod to French heritage.
Designers created a subtly sporty look building on the standard E-208’s sharp styling – avoiding the large spoilers and loud graphics found on some rivals like the Abarth.
The GTi gets an aggressive body kit with a deeper grille flanked by “claw mark” LEDs. Flared wheel arches accommodate the widened track. A larger rear spoiler balances with a low-key black diffuser.
New 18-inch alloy wheels feature large GTi lettering echoing the Speedline design from the original 205 GTi. Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires provide grip.
Neon Red highlights on the wheel arches, grille, and spoiler echo the original GTi’s red lettering.
The red theme continues inside with bright floor mats like the 205, plus red dashboard trim and seatbelts. Sports seats combine leather and Alcantara materials. The rear panel mixes Alcantara with mesh fabric reminiscent of the 205’s upholstery.
